The Paonia Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 26, to consider approval of a petition for annexation of two parcels of unincorporated land in Delta County.
Applicant Andrew Thliveris has requested annexation of Thliveris Parcels 1 and 2, which total about 2.54 acres of land currently zoned agricultural by Delta County and located directly across Third Street from the Paonia Public Library. The parcels are bordered on three sides by land located within town boundaries, including agricultural land owned by the Thliveris family and the former town wastewater treatment plant.
The Thliveris family recently opened Berg Harvest Mercantile on one of the parcels. The seasonal farmstand, selling locally-grown produce and value-added products, was named after the adjacent Berg Harvest fruit farm owned by the Thliveris family.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m., with the hearing scheduled to open at 7:30 p.m.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
