The Town of Cedaredge and the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce have teamed up see how the two entities can better partner with businesses in the Surface Creek area, as well as learn the barriers local consumers face for shopping locally, and what steps businesses can take to earn more of the local shopper business.
A survey is now open to anyone in the Surface Creek area, both business owners/managers as well as community members who live, work, shop or play in the area. The short, two-part survey asks questions of consumers -- those who shop in any stores here or who use service providers here (massage therapists, auto mechanics, CPAs, or others) -- as well as business owners.
"We know that a local business lives and dies by the amount of local support it gets in the way of shoppers or service-users," said Kami Collins, the executive director of the chamber. The survey, she explained, seeks answers to questions local consumers face as they make purchasing decisions. "We want to know what barriers our community faces when it comes to shopping locally," she said.
Additionally, from the business perspective, the survey aims to figure out how the community, the town and the chamber can be more effective in supporting local business. "We are asking for your very honest feedback on how we can improve," Collins said. "Your opinion is very important to us -- we want to make sure we are giving our businesses the best support possible, and that we're helping our businesses better serve the local clientele, so that we can all enjoy a more robust, thriving Surface Creek Valley."
The survey is available online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/SurfaceCreekArea. Links to the survey can be found on the chamber's and the town's Facebook pages and on their websites (www.CedaredgeChamber.com or www.CedaredgeColorado.com). Paper copies are also available at both the chamber office or the town hall. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
The survey will be open until March 19. On Tuesday, March 27, at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center, the two entities will hold a community meeting to discuss the results of the survey and to make plans for how we, as a community, move forward to make positive change for our businesses.
