The Town of Paonia is seeking to hire a building official after current building inspector Dave Coleman was released from his duties last week. Coleman was hired as a part-time building inspector in April 2016. Town administrator Ken Knight didn't give a reason for ending Coleman's employment with the town, stating that "it's an ongoing personnel matter."
Applications for the position are being accepted until Dec. 29, with interviews planned for early January. In the interim, said Knight, the town is working with the City of Delta to have its building inspector fill in until a new building inspector is in place. In the meantime, said Knight, building permits will continue to be issued. Inspection delays are possible and will be kept at a minimum. Since it's the holidays, the town is hoping that this won't cause inconveniences to citizens seeking building permits.
Permit applications are available at townof
paonia.com under the "Departments" tab. A job description and job application are available at Town Hall during regular business hours, or visit townofpaonia.com and scroll down to the "Currently in Paonia" tab.
