Transparency in government

I was very disappointed to hear the county commissioners decline my request to add the county website to the official posting place for public notices. In a digital age where so many of us rely on cloud-based information, this seems to me to be a missed opportunity on the part of our county commissioners.
Their reasoning was that the county attorney told them that they were in compliance with Sunshine Laws that require a 24-hour posting of county business meeting with agendas "where possible" in an official and "usual" location.
Yes, Commissioners, you are in compliance but it's not about doing the bare minimum. It's about actively wanting to be open and transparent with your constituents. And that means all of your constituents.
Most folks simply are not able to check the bulletin board at county offices in Delta which is the "on record" official posting location.
Commissioner Roeber commented that they didn't have the staff to devote to this kind of work. Linking PDFs is a very simple task that literally takes minutes. And someone on staff is indeed already posting, although many times inaccurately and late.
My request is a simple one. There should be a mandate from the commissioners that every possible avenue be used to keep the public informed about county business.
Not just the basics required by law.
