Truman Yowell

Truman Veach Yowell of Delta died in Steamboat Springs Oct. 20, 2016. He was 98.

Mr. Yowell was born in Monroe City, Mo., Nov. 27, 1917, to John and Vivian (Veach) Yowell.

He married Mary Margaret Smith in Aurora in March 1941.

He was a farmer, rancher and businessman. He owned several ranches throughout the state, including locations in eastern Colorado, Steamboat Springs and most recently, the Roubidoux Ranch in Delta. He owned registered Black Angus and Gelbvieh cattle. He was also a cooperating partner of the Valhalla Herd Cattle Company and served as president of the Routt County National Farmers Organization and the Colorado National Farmers Organization for numerous years.

He enjoyed riding ATVs and snow machines, hunting and fishing, socializing, traveling, dancing and riding his quarter horse.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol (Robert) Brown of Rock Springs, Wyo.; a son, Richard Yowell of Steamboat Springs; and one granddaughter, Nancy Brown of Pueblo.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary Margaret Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Yampa Valley Funeral Home in Steamboat Springs. Internment will follow at the Yampa Cemetery in Yampa.
