Trustees confirm two as tree board members

By Hank Lohmeyer

The Cedaredge trustees have confirmed the appointment of two new members to the tree board. They are Kathleen Ray and Gloria Good.

In other business at their Feb. 16 meeting, the Cedaredge town trustees dealt with the following matters:

• Troy Ann Gray of the Cedaredge Police Department has received her masters certification recognition in records management. To earn the certification she "attended and successfully passed nine comprehensive examinations on a five part training program compiled of the following skill sets: principles of records management, communications and customer service, technology, Colorado Open Records Act, and intergovernmental communications." Troy was master certified in October 2016.

• Public works reports that 40 of this year's scheduled 80 new water meters have been installed. The remote-read meters are saving time on meter reading chores, it was reported.

•The Cedaredge Police department's new patrol officer, Nolan Davis, is completing regular duty training. He will begin training as a K-9 handler this summer and, Police Chief Dan Sanders reported, by this fall the department could be ready to begin shopping for a police dog.

• Police Chief Sanders reported that his department has taken delivery of used portable radios that came from agencies on the Front Range. The Department of Homeland Security has approved a grant for new radios in 2018, the chief said.

• Police officers have been equipped with new Glock 9mm duty pistols equipped with laser sights.
