Sometime between midnight and about 2 o'clock on the morning of Monday, May 23, vandals broke windows at two businesses located in the 200 block of Grand Avenue in Paonia. According to the Paonia Police Department, a picture window was shattered at the Heart of the Dragon, 234 Grand Avenue, and the front entry door window was broken out at Hightower Cafe, 201 Grand Avenue.
Sergeant Neil Ferguson said the investigation is ongoing and that the department has identified "a couple of suspects." The department hopes to have the cases solved within a couple of weeks, added Ferguson.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the department at 527-4822.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
