Vaunda Lee Draney of Cedaredge died Dec. 3, 2015. She was 75.
She was born in Fresno, Calif., June 7, 1940, to Richard and Nona Hardy.
She attended the Moody Institute of Science in California.
She married Richard Draney. The couple moved to Colorado in 1968 to farm on Redlands Mesa and to operate an art store in Delta. They later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Denver. They settled in the Cedaredge area in the early 1990s.
Earlier in her life Mrs. Draney worked as a secretary for insurance firms. She was a homemaker most of her life.
Mrs. Draney was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Cedaredge. She helped St. Michael Church in Delta create a gift store and library. She enjoyed her dog, Peanut, and philanthropic activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Sister Mary Dominic of Lufkin, Texas; her sister, Marilyn Lee of Cedaredge; her stepchildren, Dan Draney of Montrose, Calif., Donna French of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Sheryl Cottrell of Oro Valley, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Draney, in 2010.
A memorial service was held Dec. 8 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Burial was at Cedardge Cemetery, next to her husband.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monastery of the Infant Jesus in Lufkin, Texas, or HopeWest in Grand Junction.
