Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary are again hosting their annual golf tournament at Devil's Thumb Golf Course on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 21.
The event is a patriotic fundraiser for the post, which is working to establish a permanent home and military heritage museum display in Delta.
The cost of the tournament is $70 for singles and $280 per foursome team. The cost includes a lunch and a golf cart for the 18 holes. Hellman Motor Company will donate a hole-in-one vehicle prize.
An honor flyover will signal the tournament's start, and there will be American flags flying at every hole.
For information or to sign up as a golfer, a team, or sponsor, call Della Ware at 872-3327, or Linda Stahly at 874-9203.
Lee Marts Post and Auxiliary also has announced that the site of its monthly meetings has changed to the First Baptist Church on Pioneer Road.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
