Photo submitted VFW and Auxiliary members, CAP cadets and sponsors decorated the American Servicewoman's Memorial in Collbran for the holidays.

Members of Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3571 and its Auxiliary donated most of their day Saturday, Dec. 17, to honor and remember American veterans.

Meeting at the VA Hospital in Grand Junction with members of Auxiliary 4663, and the cadets and sponsors of the newly formed Delta squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, they delivered Christmas cards and presents to the residents of the VA long term care facility and to each hospitalized patient who was allowed visitors.

The group then drove to Collbran and decorated the American Servicewoman's Memorial with hundreds of ornaments, each marked with the name and branch of service of a woman veteran.

The members of the VFW Post and Auxiliary in Delta have visited the VA residents and helped decorate the memorial for several years, and plan on continuing for several more.
