Virgil Decker of Delta died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at his home. He was 93.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at First Assembly of God in Delta with Rev. Jason Neely officiating.
He was born in Delta Oct. 25, 1923, to Jacob and Glades (Long) Decker. He graduated from Delta High School.
On June 11, 1950, he married Josephine "Jo" Macfarlane in Austin. They had eight children.
Mr. Decker was a member of First Assembly of God in Delta. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing ball and picnicking with family.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Decker; five sons, Chris (Dianna) Decker of Grand Junction, Paul (Karen) Decker of Castle Rock, Dennis (Vandy) Decker of Arizona City, Ariz., Wayne (Diane) Decker of Glendale, Ariz., and Kenneth (Crystal) Decker of Delta; two daughters, Bonnie (Paul) Suedekum of Mardian, Idaho, and Donna Childers of Parksley, Va.; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Decker; four brothers, Glen, Gilbert, Avon and Kenneth; and two sisters, Dorothy Dobbins-Gregory and Wilma Head.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
