Virginia F. Ballard died Oct. 20, 2016, at HopeWest Hospice Center in Grand Junction. She was 92.
Virginia Sappington was born in Clinton, Mo., Oct. 19, 1924, to Mark and Eva (Smith) Sappington. She was raised in Clinton, Mo., and later moved to Denver.
On Sept. 6, 1942, she married William Ballard in Oshkosh, Neb.
She enjoyed socializing, gardening, crocheting, traveling, collecting sea shells and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of the Cedaredge congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed helping others learn about the Bible.
She is survived by her three children, William (Carolyn) Ballard of Cory, Sheila (Lee) Cox of Cedaredge and Robert (Meri Dawn) Ballard of Waynesboro, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William Ballard, and one daughter, Cynthia Whipps.
At her request, no memorial service will be held.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
