Former North Fork area resident Virginia Schocknmyer died of Alzheimer's July 29, 2015. She was 75.
She was born in 1939 to Samuel and Ruby Pennington. The family lived in the Paonia, Somerset and Ragged Mountain areas for many years.
Mrs. Schocknmyer is survived by her husband, Emil Schocknmyer; four children, Dwayne (Lori) Schocknmyer, Jerry (Pam) Schocknmyer, Betty Sue Stoffle and Brenda (Charlie) Bennett; two sisters, Louise Borich and Ana Mae Carpenter; one brother, Johnny Pennington; eight grandchildren, Maggie, Jamie, Colby, Corey, Taylor, Courtney, Brendan and Dylan; nine great-grandchildren; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jenni Pennington and a brother-in-law, Claude Carpenter.
A memorial service was held Aug. 10 at Spanish Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Moab, Utah.
Arrangements were handled by Spanish Valley Mortuary.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
