Lifetime Delta resident Wallace "Newt" Newton died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. He was 91.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.
Mr. Newton was born Jan. 30, 1924, to William W. and Rena (Heater) Newton in Delta. He graduated from Delta High School.
He served in the United States Army. He was baptized at First Assembly of God in Delta. He was a member of Delta Elks Lodge #1235.
He married Mary Rose on Oct. 14, 1961, in Delta. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Newton is survived by his wife, Mary Rose Newton of Delta; two sons, Billy of Olathe and Steve of Grand Junction; a daughter, Judy Fielding of Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother, Morgan Newton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death a daughter, Rena Louise Newton; and a sister, Amy Webb.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delta Food Pantry.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
