Wayne George Berto died of ALS Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at his home in Delta. He was 63.
Celebration of his life was held Aug. 13 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Wayne Berto was born Aug. 10, 1952, to Claire and Eva (Kralicek) Berto in Montrose. Most of his childhood was spent with cousins in this area and in church.
He graduated from Montrose High School in 1971. He enlisted for two years with the United States Air Force. He was a transmission specialist and ASE certified.
On April 21, 1991, he married Diane (Geremia) Bratton. She had a 13-year-old girl and he had a 16-year-old boy. This was the third marriage for both of them. They were married over 25 years.
Mr. Berto enjoyed the outdoors, being with family and friends, hiking, photography and old cars.
He is survived by his mother, Eva Dean Stone of Delta; his wife, Diane Berto of Delta; a son, Tony (Shelley) Berto of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Sommer Jones of Ivins, Utah; two brothers, Larry Berto of Galveston, Texas, and Tom Berto of Santa Fe, N.M.; a sister, Linda (Kenny) Geisen of Delta; and four grandchildren.
Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory handled the arrangements.

Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
