The annual Advent concerts at St. Luke's Church in Delta continue Tuesday, Dec. 6, with "Harps in Motion," playing 12:10 to 12:50 p.m.
The "Harps in Motion" ensemble began in 2014 with a group of adult beginners who decided to learn to play the harp. They now meet weekly to practice together. They have played in the Chapel of the Cross concert series in Cedaredge, the Montrose noon concert series of December, and in several retirement homes. Last year their moving renditions of Christmas carols captured the hearts of those attending the Advent concerts.
Robin Freed, leader of the group, operates the Harps and Hammers Music Studio in the Precedence Music Academy, 513 E. Main Street in Montrose. Her students range from age 6 to mid 80s.
"Harp is for everyone and we hope that the Dec. 6 concert will delight all who attend," she said. For more information on Harps and Hammers, call 275-8996.
On Dec. 13, Debbie Doherty will perform. The final concert, Dec. 20, will be with a special men's choir.
Call Elizabeth Wilcox, 874-9832, for more information concerning these concerts.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
