George Wesley "Wes" Hammerich of Eckert died Aug. 28, 2015. He was 82.
He was born in Glenwood Springs Nov. 8, 1932. He was raised on the family ranch on Four Mile.
He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Aspen and supervised the Snowmass Village branch when it opened in 1967. Soon after his retirement in 1992, he and his family moved to Eckert.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bette; a daughter, Judy of New River, Ariz.; a son, Scott (Amy); grandchildren, Lucy and Westley of Boulder; sisters, Elizabeth Stapleton of Aspen and Elouise (Harold) Fender of Rifle; and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
