Thursday night's women league titlest, Cornerstone Home Lending, won the title without much difficulty with an 11-1 record. Crested Oak Dentistry was a distant second with a 5-7 mark followed by Overholt Sheds and H & R Block with identical 4-8 records.
Tournament play began July 7 with Cornerstone and H & R playing in game one and Overholt Sheds and Crested Oak Dentristry playing in game two.
Cornerstone outscored H & R, 12-4, in the opener and moved on to earn a berth in round two.
Overholt Sheds wasn't able to hold back Crested Oak Dentistry in game two falling by a score of 14-5.
In the winners bracket, Cornerstone got the best of Crested Oak, 11-8, and earned the first berth in this week's finals at 7:30 p.m.
Crested Oak dropped into the losers' bracket where they waited to see who their next opponent would be.
H & R Block scored a 7-5 decision over Overholt to earn the final playoff spot against Crested Oak in a game to be played on July 14 at 6:30 p.m. The winner plays Cornerstone for the title at 7:30 p.m.
Should Cornerstone fall in the 7:30 game, a second championship game would be necessary to determine the Women's Slowpitch champion in the double elimination tournament. That contest would be played at 8:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
