The 2016 Rockies' Skills Challenge was held on June 15 at Confluence Park. Boys and girls, ranging in age from 8 to 13, competed in running, hitting and throwing for a chance to advance to the next round of competition.
Competition was divided into 6/7, 8/9, 10/11 and 12/13 age divisions.
Layne Sanchez won the boys' division in the 6/7 age category while Peyton Huntley was the winner in the girls' division.
William Seriani of Paonia was the boys' winner in the 8/9 division and Haley Ryan of Delta claimed top honors in the girls' division.
Delta's Dustin Win-gard was the 10/11 boys' winner and Paonia's Ally Seriani the girls' champion.
Delta's Treyton Sandocal and Keely Porter won titles in the 12/13 age division.
Winners advance to Grand Junction's Stocker Stadium on July 17 for the next round of competition at 10 a.m.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
