Twenty-three teams competed in the Deltarado Days horseshoe tournament on July 29. The weather was beautiful and Cleland Park was a wonderful setting.
Tribute was paid to a longtime competitor, Glenn Corrigan, who enjoyed a wide range of sports, including horseshoes. He died June 2, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer. His wife Sheila read a poem and at the conclusion of the tournament, presented his horseshoes to first place winners.
The tournament was sponsored by Grand Mesa Motorsports and Alpine Fencing and Supplies, and run by Alpine Fencing. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the top three teams.
