The Paonia girls are now 3-1 following last week's games against 3A Western Slope League teams. On Dec. 5 the Eagles hit 30 percent of their field goal attempts and had single-digit scores in all four quarters in their 35-28 loss at Olathe (2-2). On Friday night Paonia pulled off a 26-25 home win over Coal Ridge (0-2).
The girls will plkay in the annual First Colorado National Bank tournament at Delta High School this Friday at 6 p.m., against the 2-0 Panthers of Delta.
The Paonia boys are 2-2 after non-conference losses to Olathe (3-3) and Coal Ridge (2-0). On Dec. 5, Olathe's 23-point third quarter helped boost the Pirates to a 66-52 home win over the Eagles.
Three double-digit scorers gave Coal Ridge the edge and a 64-55 win at Paonia High School Friday night.
Paonia boys will play in the First Colorado National Bank tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m., against 2-0 Delta.
Following winter break the Eagles will open conference play on Jan. 5 at Plateau Valley High School. Their next home game is Jan. 6 against Caprock Academy.
