Dear Editor:

I would like to invite the North Fork Valley community to Paonia's first international animated shorts fest. This spectacular event includes the 19th annual Animation Show of Shows PLUS a special showing of local student digital films. Bring the whole family and delve into the magical world of animated arts!

The evening begins at 6 p.m. Friday, June 21, with a special showing of animated films produced by local students from the Arts For All workshop and the Aspen Art Museum's digital workshop. Following the student presentation, there will be an ice cream social for general merriment and conversation. At 7 p.m., the event will move across the street to the Paradise Theatre for a viewing of the 19th Annual Show of Shows. The evening concludes back at the Blue Sage with a reception to meet director and producer of Show of Shows, Ron Diamond.

This event would not have happened without the collaboration of Arts For All, The Aspen Art Museum, Blue Sage Center for the Arts, The Paradise Theatre, and Show of Shows, which all came together to provide a rare glimpse into the creativity of digital film-making from around the world.

A huge shout out goes to Ron Diamond, producer of Show of Shows, for flying in from Los Angeles to meet students and movie goers and for bringing along the 17th and 18th annual Show of Shows (playing on Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Paradise) making this a true film festival experience.

Much appreciation to the following underwriters without whom this event could not have happened: Betsy Marston, Bronwen Barry, Bruce Woodside, Ulli Lange, Jeff Skeels and Ian Oeser.

A HUGE thank you to the Aspen Art Museum (AAM) for sponsoring the Arts for All digital workshop and to teacher Katie Hadar for all her hard work in making the student films a reality and for putting us in touch with the Show of Shows.

If you have never been to a shorts film festival, now is the time to take advantage of this delightful adventure. Tickets are $10 and all kids get in free. If you need further information or have any questions please give us a call at the Blue Sage or check out our website, bluesage.org.

See you at curtain call.

Debra Muzikar
Executive Director
Blue Sage Center for the Arts
