Jim and Gladys Carpenter will celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss on Sept. 8.

Jim Carpenter and Gladys Pagone both grew up in Hotchkiss, graduated from high school together in 1960 and then married on Sept. 8, 1969. A simple wedding was held in Montrose, with a short honeymoon in Gunnison. The two returned home to Hotchkiss, where they still reside. The Carpenters have one son, Carl, who also lived in Hotchkiss with his family.
