Warrior Canes awarded

Warrior canes were awarded to a pair of U.S. Army veterans last month during a ceremony held in Cedaredge. The occasion was the annual picnic of Grand Mesa Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9221. Receiving canes are David Craig (left) and Charles Dalpaiz (far right). In the center, representing the Grand Valley Woodturners and Wood Carvers who fashioned the canes, is Keith Kollasch. Craig, who is commander of Post 9221, served from 1967-70 including service with the 23rd Infantry and a tour in Vietnam. Dalpaiz served from 1962-65 including service with signal battalions and a tour in Korea.
