The Hotchkiss High School volleyball team is having some growing pains, but the young Bulldogs squad continues to improve and build toward the future.
After a pair of 0-3 losses last week, the Bulldogs stood at 4-4 on the campaign before last night's home match against Cedaredge.
The Hotchkiss High School football team recovered from a crazy first quarter to beat visiting Coal Ridge 28-14 last Friday night, improving to 2-0 under first year head coach Curtis Hintz.
"I'm just proud of our boys.
Hotchkiss High School hosted the third cross country meet of the season last Saturday morning and Delta County runners enjoyed the home field advantage.
"It's a tough course. We run it every day so we knew what to expect," Bulldogs sophomore Kaiya Firor, a state qualifier last year, said after she finished third in the girls race.
Delta's Panthers were busy playing volleyball last week. The action began on Thursday, Sept. 8, in Montrose.
Delta's soccer team is looking to make some noise in its new conference (3A WSL) and has played well so far this season. The Panthers have defeated Cortez, Grand Junction Central and Palisade early in the season.
There were just over 54 graduates in the Cedaredge High School Class of 1966, according to one classmate who attended the 50th class reunion held last weekend.
Over 20 of those graduating 1966 class members attended the class reunion at Lions Pavilion on Friday evening, Sept. 9.

The Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorus entertained and inspired music fans on Saturday, Sept. 10, with a celebration of musical Americana at the 10th annual Pops in the Park concert at Cedaredge Town Park.
Centennial Bandstand once again served as the perfect musical venue, and the park's lush, late summer green added the comfortable setting for listeners.
