Last week's basketball action was hectic with three games played, beginning on Tuesday (Jan. 16) with Cedaredge in Delta. The Bruin girls won the second encounter of the season between the two teams with a 41-39 score in overtime (see related story).
The three participating Delta County wrestling teams placed multiple wrestlers and produced champions Saturday at the annual Screaming Eagle tournament. Twenty-one teams and about 170 wrestlers competed at the annual tournament.
Delta High School had a few high finishes in last weekend's swim meet at Bill Heddles Rec Center. One of the most rewarding, for head coach Karoline Roome, was the first-place finish by Kendra Hillman in the 50 yard freestyle event.
Hotchkiss upped its dual record to 7-5 Friday night with wins over Norwood and Meeker.
In the Bulldogs' 40-21 win over Meeker, Jace Peebles opened with an 11-3 major decision win over Jacob Shelton.
Olathe resident RG Martin has been flying since the age of 10, when he placed sticks in the side of a cardboard box to make it look like an airplane. He would jump off a giant sand pile and fly down the side.
Winter is a very popular time for library programs in Delta County. In January alone, Delta County Libraries is offering over 80 programs for the public to attend, including weekly storytimes, scavenger hunts, maker space stations, crafts groups, technology assistance, community presenters and more.
