Medical students from CU, CSU get a taste of rural life

During the week of June 4-8, 17 students from the University of Colorado and Colorado State University toured Delta County as part of the University of Colorado's Interdisciplinary Rural Immersion Program.

Since 2005 the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, in conjunction with the Rural Track program and Colorado Area Health Education Center, has been providing this experience to students who are interested in becoming medical professionals in rural areas.

Hotchkiss junior Kaiya Firor was named Class 2A co-Athlete of the Year by the CHSAA. Firor repeated her 2017 performance, winning the 400-meter dash and 300m hurdles.

Summer-ball season rolling

Cedaredge and Delta 18U baseball teams competed in a weekend tournament to provide playing-time experience for returning athletes from both schools. According to Delta High School baseball coach Steve Reiher the summer season generates a compliment of full-season games for the Panthers and Bruins.

The Black Canyon Camera Club is hosting its fourth annual photography show and sale at the Creamery Arts Center, 165 W. Bridge Street, through June 30.

This year's show, "A Photographic Journey," celebrates the creative vision of all photographers.

Edge of Cedars Art Show winners listed

A successful 46th annual Edge of the Cedars Art Show sponsored by Zeta Omicron Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority has been completed. Seventy artists exhibited a total of 202 entries which included paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery, stained glass and an open category.
