Delta Housing Authority has funding for home repairs

The Delta Housing Authority (DHA) has received funding from the Colorado Division of Housing for its housing rehabilitation program in Delta County. The program provides assistance to low and middle income households for necessary home improvements.

Visitation at Fort Uncompahgre soars

Visitation at Fort Uncompahgre has quadrupled since the U.S. Forest Service information office was moved there earlier this summer. The opening of the fort's expanded visitor center was celebrated Saturday, June 23, with dignitaries from the city, county and Interpretive Association of Western Colorado, which operates the city-owned fort.



Plan ahead for Bulls N' Broncs War show

The annual Bulls N' Broncs War happens this Saturday night at the North Fork Horse Patrol on Mathews Lane (at the railroad crossing). This year, $750 of added money will be added to each of the two main events.

Celebrate 72 years of Cherry Days fun

One of the longest continuously running festivals in Colorado, Cherry Days turns 72 this year.

The Paonia Lions Club planned the first Cherry Day as a fundraiser to secure lights for the high school football field, also known as Dan Lawrence Field.

Cherry Days music lineup is impressive

The first musical act on this year's Cherry Days schedule is Shinyribs. This nine-member group out of Austin (Texas, that is) performs at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at The Paradise Theatre in downtown Paonia.

Cherry Days royalty to be crowned July 4

Coronation of royalty for the 72nd Cherry Days festival will be held July 4 at 12:15 p.m., at the Howard Berkman Stage in Paonia Town Park.

The king and queen will each receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Cherry Days Committee. Other royalty nominees will each receive a check for $100.

When the 72nd annual Cherry Days Parade begins this Independence Day, Cherry Days 4-Ever committee member Ulli Lange will be pulling double duty.

Lange was selected at this year's parade grand marshal.
