A week in Uganda

This past May I was privileged to join the Fountain of Life Foundation with a few dentists, nurses, and others on a trip to Uganda, Africa. Our flight to Uganda took 22 hours, broken up with an overnight stay in Dubai, Arab Emirates.

King, queen plan careers working with youth

The Delta Area Chamber of Commerce has established the tradition of awarding scholarships to two Delta High School graduates who are then named Deltarado Days king and queen. This year's recipients are Emily Martinez and Colton Galvin.

Mutton bustin', rodeo move to Friday night

The Deltarado Days rodeo this year will take place Friday, July 27, beginning with mutton bustin' at 7 p.m.

While the rodeo has traditionally been held on Saturday, the stock contractor had a conflict that night.

Jeanne Dewsnup is being honored as parade grand marshal, in recognition of 50 years of ownership of the Tru Vu Drive-In. The Tru Vu is a unique outdoor offering that can't be experienced in many other places across the country, let alone in-state.

Artists 'inspired' by EcoFlight tour

On a cool July morning, artists with Elsewhere Studios climbed aboard a Cessna Turbo Centurion II plane at the North Fork Airport for a flight along the North Fork and Muddy Creek drainages above Paonia. They were seeking to gain new perspectives on where oil and gas development is occurring or proposed in relation to local communities, water sources and the overall landscape of the North Fork Valley.

BMW rally attracts 585 riders to Paonia

For the 30th time, motorcyclists rode from miles around to Paonia last weekend for the BMW Motorcycle Club of Colorado's annual Top O' The Rockies Rally at Paonia Town Park.

Paonia resident Scott Kellogg has volunteered with the rally the past 15 years and has overseen the registration table the past five years.
