Cedaredge fell to 1-2 in the 1A WSL football standings following last week's 48-12 loss to 2A WSL Aspen (2-1).
The Bruins completed just four of nine passes for 44 yards against the Skiers but had a solid running game that produced 315 yards of offense for a combined total of 359 yards.
Senior Wade Barnard carried the ball for 25 of Cedaredge's 53 attempts and accumulated 151 yards of real estate. Junior Josh Jenkins had four carries for 86 yards, including a 72-yard jaunt, and scored one of the Bruins' touchdowns. Senior quarterback Jared Reynolds ran for 38 yards on eight carries.
Reynolds completed three of five passes in the game for 28 yards and a touchdown throw to junior Dusty Emig.
Jacob Brown had one completion in his four attempts at the quarterback's position for 16 yards for the Bruins.
Defensively, senior Toby Waddell led the Bruins in tackles with six with teammates Ryan Imhoff and Austin Crawford adding five tackles each. Colby Rupp, Emig, Jenkins, David Lopez and Taj VanderLinde all finished the game with three tackles each.
Paonia rests atop the 1A WSL football standings with its 2-1 record. Hotchkiss is listed second at 1-1 and Olathe, Meeker, Grand Valley and Cedaredge are 1-2 for the season.
Cedaredge is hosting Class 2A Salida's Spartans (4-0 Intermountain League) this Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.
