Bruce Bair, public works director for the Town of Crawford, has been named an at-large member of the Gunnison Basin Roundtable. Bair expressed interest in the roundtable in September when Wendell Koontz, the mayor of Hotchkiss and senior mine geologist for Arch Coal, announced he would be stepping down as municipal representative for Delta County.

Roundtables were created out of the Colorado Water for the 21st Century Act to facilitate discussion between basins on water management issues. Terms are for five years.

The Gunnison Basin Roundtable is one of nine roundtables representing each of the state's eight major river basins and the Denver metropolitan area. Lake San Cristobal and sediment removal from Paonia Reservoir are listed as the basin's major projects.

Bair said his first meeting will be in December. "I'm really looking forward to it," said Bair.

Trustee Hetty Todd thanked Bair for taking care of the town's water supply and ensuring that Crawford doesn't have to spend a lot of money on water filtration projects because of his ongoing efforts to test the town's water.
