Bill Rose

William C. "Bill" Rose died July 5, 2015, at his home in Cedaredge. He was 71.

He was born in Denver June 18, 1944, to Ralph and Ora Rose.

After he graduated from high school, he joined the Peace Corps and taught mechanics in Venezuela. On a special mission for the U.S. Forest Service, he rode his motorcycle and camped in the area that is now Lake Powell, identifying historical landmarks and petroglyphs prior to the filling of the lake. He worked as a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad until retirement.

Mr. Rose spent many years along the river in Buffalo Creek. He partici-pated in mountain man and black powder events throughout Colorado.

He was a Christian. He enjoyed living in Cedaredge, hunting and fishing on Grand Mesa, studying the culture of early America, restoring antique vehicles and driving them, old jeeps or his motorcyle in parades, talking with friends about vehicle restoration and helping people.

Mr. Rose is survived by his brother, Larry; his sister, Frankie; and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy.
