Robert Ira Riddle died Sept. 9, 2015, at his home in Grand Junction. He was 91.
He was born in Bedrock Feb. 15, 1924, to Andrew and Eva (Hall) Riddle. He was raised on the family ranch in the Paradox Valley and graduated from Nucla High School in 1942. He attended Mesa College in Grand Junction in the fall of 1942. At the onset of World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a medical corpsman. He was honorably discharged.
Mr. Riddle married Yvonne Lewis on May 3, 1945, in Chelsea, Mass. They returned to the Paradox Valley after his discharge from the Navy.
He was a rancher and farmer in the Paradox Valley. He received a bachelor of science degree from Western State College and taught in the West End School District. When they retired, the Riddles sold the ranch and moved to Grand Junction in 1995.
Mr. Riddle enjoyed art and writing.
He is survived by his children, Leslie (Eldon Sage), Drue (Butch Priestley) and James (Nancy); a son-in-law, Ken Galyean; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kent (Ruth) of Grand Junction; and a sister, Eberta Skalla of St. George, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne; a daughter, Gail; a brother; and two sisters.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 14, at Paradox Cemetery with Ted Swain officiating. Dedication of the grave was by Ron Steele.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
