The Cedaredge boys' track team fared well at last Saturday's Delta Invitational track and field meet. The Bruins finished first in eight of 12 events with 131.5 points to place third in the 10-team meet.
Senior Bryce Klaseen was a triple-winner with victories in the 200, 400 and long jump events. Klaseen had a time of 23.25 in the 200 and beat the competition in the 400 with a time of 51.72. His leap of 19-07.5 in long jump outdistanced fellow teammate Danny Mendoza by more than a foot and a half. Mendoza's best jump of the day was 18-01 and good for second place.
Senior Shane Gates picked up two wins for the Bruins with victories in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.08) and the 300-meter intermediates with a time of 41.82.
Isaac Swoffer also scored 10 points for Cedaredge with his first-place finish in the 100-meter dash. Swoffer's time was 11.63. He was third in the 200-meter race with a time of 23.47.
The Bruins claimed the top two spots in the 100-meter dash with Ty Grant coming in second to Swoffer. Grant's time was 11.88.
Cedaredge's 400-meter and 1600-meter relay teams completed the first-place wins for the boys. The 400m team had a time of 45.51 while the 1600m squad circled the track four times turning in a time of 3:41.05.
Another third-place finish belonged to Drew Markley who had a time of 45.12 in the 300-meter hurdle race.
Fourth-place finishes went to Grant in the 200-meter race and Xander Purcell in discus competition.
The Bruins' 3200-meter relay team was fifth as was J. P. Morgan in the high jump.
Scoring three points each for their sixth-place finishes were Jordan McMillan (400-meter dash) and Mendoza in triple jump.
Thomas Huggett and Drew Markley scored points for their eighth-place finishes in the discus and triple jump events respectively.
Cedaredge is back in action on Hotchkiss' oval this Saturday, March 26, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
