The Cedaredge Bruin boys basketball team found last week's schedule to be tougher than anticipated as a pair of losses left them mired in seventh place in overall standings with a 4-5 record. The Bruins fell to WSL foe Olathe, 78-56, on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and suffered a 57-32 setback to Moffat County's Bulldogs on Saturday. Saturday's loss was in 3A WSL play leaving Cedaredge 0-1.

The Pirates (1-1, 6-6) jumped out to a 19-9 first-quarter lead and added to a 35-25 halftime lead with a 29-17 third quarter to blow the game open.
Each team scored 14 points in the fourth quarter for the game's final score, 78-56.
Cedaredge sophomore Colby Rupp paced the Bruins' offense with 17 points and pulled down six rebounds in the loss. Senior Jared Reynolds finished the game with 13 counters.
Sophomore Alex Barron led Cedaredge with six assists, six steals and six deflections. Junior Owen Craig had five rebounds in the game and sophomore Conner Brooks had five assists.
Bulldogs 57, Bruins 32
Saturday's contest in Craig was a WSL loss as the Bulldogs (0-3, 2-10) won the first three quarters of the game to take a 50-25 lead to the fourth period.
Cedaredge hosted Rangely (1-2, 1-8, 2A District 5), Jan. 22, and is slated to play in Basalt Jan. 25 against the Longhorns (0-2, 2-9) at 7 p.m. Gunnison's Cowboys are in town Saturday, Jan. 26, for a 4:30 p.m. contest. Delta is in town Jan. 29 for a 6 p.m. contest with the Bruins.
