The Cedaredge Bruins' softball team bounced back from losses to Montrose and Palisade a couple of weeks ago to score a 16-4 decision over Gunnison's Cowboys at the Field of Dreams in Orchard City.
The Bruins countered each of Gunnison's scores with at least one run of their own each time. Gunnison plated one run in the first and the Bruins came back with five. Gunnison scored once in the second frame and Gunnison countered with a six-spot to take an 11-3 lead. Each team scored once in the third inning with Cedaredge putting the game away with a four-run bottom of the fifth and a 16-4 final.
Cedaredge participated in tournament play at the Sheridan Tournament in Denver Friday and Saturday.
The Bruins began play on Friday with a 4-3 win over Holyoke then lost to 4A Eagle Valley 12-3.
Game three on Saturday was a 7-6 loss to Lewis-Palmer with a 16-1 victory coming against Platte Canyon to conclude tournament play.
The Bruins are at home on Sept. 8 for a doubleheader against Cortez with games schedule to begin at 10 a.m. and 12 noon.
Cedaredge begins play next week on Tuesday, Sept. 11 against Aspen at the Field of Dreams at 4 p.m.
