The Cedaredge Bruins were relentless in a 42-8 gridiron victory over Aspen High School. Cedaredge led 42-0 after three quarters of play and gave up just one touchdown, in the fourth quarter, to go 2-0 after two weeks of action.

Cedaredge used its ground game and aerial attack evenly in the win last Friday. Quarterback Pedro Madaleno had seven completions in 12 tries for 194 yards. Brandon O'Hern and Christian Reynolds were the top receivers with 91 yards each. Reynolds had four catches and O'Hern grabbed two Madaleno passes.

Isaac Swoffer led the Bruins' ground attack with 76 yards in eight carries. O'Hern had 47 yards after five carries with Madaleno and Reynolds finishing the game with 35 yards each. Cedaredge's ground game accumulated 210 yards.

The Bruins scored two touchdowns in the opening quarter with Reynolds hauling in a 56-yard pass from Madaleno and taking it into the end zone. Brendon Klaseen kicked the extra point making it 7-0 in the early stages.

Cedaredge's second score in the first period came on a 60-yard scoring toss from Madaleno to O'Hern. Klaseen's kick made it 14-0.

The Bruins notched their third touchdown of the game in the second quarter with O'Hern's second of three touchdowns coming on a 24-yard scamper. Klaseen's kick was good for a 21-0 lead.

Cedaredge's defense posted the fourth Bruin touchdown when Isaac Swoffer pilfered an RJ Peshek pass and returned it 55 yards to the endzone for a 28-0 lead following Klaseen's PAT kick.

O'Hern scored his third touchdown of the game in the second quarter on a four-yard run and the Bruins were cruising, 35-0, at halftime. O'Hern finished with 47 yards on five carries for the Bruins.

With a running clock, the game's scoring tempo was drastically slowed down in the second half of play.

Reynolds scored his second touchdown of the game in the third period when he scooted into the end zone from three yards out for the only score in the period. Klaseen's kick gave the Bruins a 42-0 lead going to the final stanza.

Aspen averted the shutout with a Peshek to Ben Appleby pass covering 34 yards in the fourth quarter. Peshek converted the extra point try with a run into the end zone for two points and a final score of 42-8.

On defense O'Hern's nine tackles paced a stout defensive effort by the Bruins. Tre' LaBossiere finished with another eight stops and Swoffer had six.

Cedaredge is on the road again this week with a non-conference contest against Vail Christian on Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.
