Cedaredge's baseball team hosted Olathe High School on Tuesday, April 23. The Bruins, second in 3A WSL standings, put together a nine-run second inning to power their way past Olathe, 11-2.
Sophomores Jacob Brown and Conner Brooks had one hit apiece and each drove in two runs in Cedaredge's six-hit performance in Cedaredge.
Cedaredge scored its final run in the third inning and the Pirates scored single runs in the second and fifth innings.
Sophomore Trey Geyer was the winning pitcher with five innings of work, three hits, two earned runs, five walks and nine strike outs. Junior Simon Varela stepped in for the final two innings allowing no hits, no runs, two walks and two strike outs.
In their 15-1 win Friday. April 26, over the Grand Valley Cardinals, the Cedaredge Bruins (8-11, 4-1 3A Western Slope League) baseball team had 15 hits and eight earned runs. Sophomore Isaac Blair was 3 for 4 with one 3B and two RBI, Dusty Emig was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, a 2B and a 3B, and Conner Brooks was 2 for 4 for three RBIs.
On the mound, Sean Dale struck out one in 1.1 innings; Emig pitched 5.2 innings, allowing one earned run, walking seven and striking out 11.
Cedaredge was back in action Monday, April 30, with a visit from winless Aspen.
On May 1, the Cedaredge board of trustees met for a special meeting to appropriate an additional $35,000 from reserves as a loan to the golf course fund.
These funds will be used to purchased a used turf utility vehicle, a spray rig, and to make improvements to the kitchen and dining area of the restaurant.
