After suffering five straight losses in games played in consecutive weeks, Cedaredge High School's football team broke through to the win column again with a 30-18 1A WSL victory in Parachute over Grand Valley's Cardinals.
Both teams contributed points through the air and on the ground with the Bruins winning the total yardage battle by a mere three yards, 359-356.
Senior Jared Reynolds threw the ball nine times and completed two passes for 56 yards. Reynolds also carried the ball 18 times for 100 yards on the ground with two touchdowns to lead the Bruins to the win.
Junior Dusty Emig also scored a rushing touchdown with Austin Crawford scooping up a fumble and rambling 35 yards for another Cedaredge touchdown. Emig finished the game with 75 yards on 10 carries. Wade Barnard finished with 62 yards and Joshua Jenkins collected 66 yards on six carries.
Sophomore Brody Wagner kicked the extra points after each of Cedaredge's four touchdowns and Reynolds was also responsible for a safety in the game to account for the Bruins' 30 points in the game.
Defensively, Reynolds played well with 10 tackles with teammates Crawford and Jenkins credited with nine and eight tackles respectively.
Meeker is in control of the 1A WSL with its 3-0 and 4-2 record followed by Paonia, 2-1 and 4-3 and Olathe 2-1 and 4-3. The Bruins sit in fourth place at time with records of 1-2 and 2-5 with Grand Valley (1-2 and 2-5) and Hotchkiss (0-3 and 2-5) occupying the bottom two spots.
Cedaredge is at Hotchkiss this week for a 7 p.m. league matchup.
