Cedaredge High School split a pair of volleyball matches this past week with a win in Carbondale over the Roaring Fork Rams and a 3-0 loss at home to Coal Ridge.
The loss to Coal Ridge has the Titans on top of the 3A WSL standings at 8-0 in league play and 12-5 overall. The Bruins fell out of a tie for the top spot with their record of 7-1 and 14-2.
In Carbondale, the Bruins fought off a determined Roaring Fork squad to win set one, 25-23. A 25-13 second set win gave Cedaredge a 2-0 lead with one set to go. The Rams did not go easily in the final set making the final score 25-21 in favor of Cedaredge.
Senior Courtney Freeman led the Bruins at the net with 15 kills with junior Makayla Kehmeier adding nine kill of her own.
Sophomore Kammie Henderson and Kehmeier had four and three service aces, respectively, for the Bruins in the match with the same two athletes recording eight digs each. Sophomore Baylee Harris dished out 33 assists on 102 attempts in the three-set match.
Saturday's match against Coal Ridge featured three close sets being played with the Titans earning wins with scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-18. Statistics for this match were not available.
Cedaredge is the highest ranked 3A WSL team in RPI standings with a number six ranking. Coal Ridge is 15th and Delta is 19th.
