Building code listening session set for April 16

By Tamie Meck

The Town of Paonia's governmental affairs and public safety committee (GAPS) will conduct a "Listening session" at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at Paonia Town Hall, 214 Grand Avenue. The committee wants to hear from builders, contractors and other members of the building community about a possible re-write of the town's building code, which can be accessed at under the "Government" tab.

Town contract building official Dan Reardon will provide an overview of possible code changes. Town administrator Ken Knight, along with GAPS members/town trustees Sam Hart and Knutson, will be present. Other trustees may also be in attendance.

The GAPS committee plans to use input from the session to present recommendations to the board of trustees on the code update and ideas for addressing concerns raised by constituents. Trustees have until June 28 to decide whether to move forward with the re-write.
