The Hotchkiss Bulldogs swept a doubleheader in 10 innings Thursday against Sargent, 20-1, 16-1.
In game one, the Bulldogs scored 20 runs on 10 hits. Jamison Yanish and Brian Gonzalez hit home runs in the win, and Marvin Guereque had one double. Yanish also drove in four runs.
On the mound, Presley Pene allowed one hit, one run, walked five and struck out six in three innings; Guereque closed with no hits and three strikes in two innings. The two combine for 76 throws.
In game two, Hotchkiss scored 20 runs on 10 hits, with Yanish hitting four RBIs.
Yanish and Guereque both batted .667, and Pene, Gonzalez and Elysah Shaw batted .500.
On the mound, Yanish, Gonzalez, and Guereque allowed a combined three hits, one earned run in 15 at bats, two walks and eight strike outs in the game.
"Everyone played really well," said head coach Blake Carlquist.
On May 1, the Cedaredge board of trustees met for a special meeting to appropriate an additional $35,000 from reserves as a loan to the golf course fund.
These funds will be used to purchased a used turf utility vehicle, a spray rig, and to make improvements to the kitchen and dining area of the restaurant.
