Calvary Baptist Church of Delta, located at 1290 A Street, celebrates an exciting milestone in its history this weekend -- its 50th anniversary of ministry in Delta, with three events. On Saturday, Sept. 30, the church will gather at 6 p.m. for a barbecue fellowship at the Lions Pavilion at Confluence Park. Food will be plentiful and musical and comedy entertainment will be provided. On Sunday morning at 10:30, the regular worship service will focus on the past, present and future ministries of the church, with several former pastors speaking words of encouragement. Sunday starting at noon, the church will enjoy fellowship, finger foods, cake and ice cream as the congregation celebrates 50 years of ministry in Delta. Present members, past members, families and friends are cordially invited to all three events.
According to Pastor Greg Teel, "Calvary Baptist has been able to minister in Delta for 50 years only through the preserving power and grace of God. We thank Him for all that He has provided to allow us to serve Him."
On Dec. 2, officers of the Delta Police Department responded to a report of an assault. Officers spoke with a 64-year-old male with a bleeding injury on his neck.
