For somebody who doesn't own property within city limits and cannot vote in city elections, Scott Schaible certainly seems to know a lot about "the will of the people" in City of Delta.
Schaible continues to ignore the will of the people in his own special way. City of Delta voters elected Nathan Clay, Kevin Carlson, and Christopher Ryan -- the three council members who Schaible berates every chance that he gets -- because the voters trusted them. The people have spoken: These are the guys for the job. Like it or lump it, this is how representative government works. If they are as bad as Schaible claims, then he can follow his own advice and start circulating a petition for a recall vote.
I am willing to wager that he will not find much success with this endeavor, and learn that the only way to come close to objectively measuring the people's will is through an election -- something which Schaible seems very antagonistic about happening.
I, for one, think that these council members deserve praise for taking on some pretty challenging issues -- and doing so despite the constant barrage of vitriol they have endured. It is obvious that these council members care deeply about this city and its residents, because they certainly don't get paid enough to deal with these nonstop hissy fits. They deserve to be commended for their service.
And this compliment should mean a little extra something coming from the guy who ran against Kevin Carlson and lost.
Keep up the good work, gents.
