Crawford resident Carolyn M. St. Geme died July 9, 2017, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 82.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paonia. A rosary will be recited prior to the service at 9:15 a.m. Interment will take place in California.

Carolyn Marie Johan-sing was born on May 3, 1935, to Harry and Helen (Fitch) Johansing in Pasadena, Calif. She graduated from Mayfield High School in Pasadena in 1953.

After graduation, she attended the University of Southern California, graduating cum laude and receiving a bachelor of arts in sociology in 1958. She received special recognition for having enriched the quality of life of the students at USC.

On July 11, 1959, she married Emile Pozzo "Jim" St. Geme in La Canada, Calif.

Mrs. St. Geme was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paonia and had belonged to various other Catholic churches during her lifetime. She was also a member and past president of the Trojan League of Los Angeles, a women's alumni support group for the University of Southern California.

Mrs. St. Geme volunteered at the Paonia Care Center and was a member of the Maher Onion Valley Women's Club. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jim St. Geme; seven children, Pete (Vicky) St. Geme of Gilroy, Calif., Mike (Ursula) St. Geme of San Marino, Calif., Jean St. Geme of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tracy (Scott) Grubb of Sacramento, Calif., Paul (Wendy) St. Geme of Carmichael, Calif., Lynne (John Reader) St. Geme-Reader of San Clemente, Calif., and Greg (Katie) St. Geme of Hillsborough, Calif.; three brothers, David (Loydell) Johansing of Placerville, Calif., Bruce (Evie) Johansing of Loveland and Robert (Carol) Johansing of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a sister, Marilyn (Mike) O'Neil of Pikesville, Md.; 12 grandchildren; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Hal Johansing; and a sister, Lisa Nichols.
