The Hotchkiss girls upped their overall record to 11-2 Saturday on a 58-43 conference win over visiting Rangely.
Carson Collins scored 26 points, marking a game and season high for the senior and nearing her career-high 29 points scored against Caprock Academy in her sophomore year. Collins made five trips to the foul line, where she shot 6-of-7.
Panther Skylan Thacker scored four three-pointers and 22 points for Rangely. At the end of the third period, Hotchkiss held a solid 40-23 lead. The Panthers scored 20 points in the fourth, led by a 12-point spree by Thacker. Collins, Shay Glaser and Kaiya Firor answered almost point for point, scoring a combined 18 points for the period.
Hotchkiss shot 9-of-18 from the free throw line. Glaser scored six goals and 12 points for the game, and Firor added 10.
The Panthers shot 15 of 22 from the foul line in the game.
Hotchkiss remains at No. 16 in state RPI rankings. It is currently 5-1 in conference play with six total games remaining in the regulation season. Hotchkiss travels this Friday to No. 9 Soroco (12-2, 5-1). The Bulldogs will have to contain senior Chloe Veilleux, who leads the league in scoring with just under 20 points per game. Against their six common opponents, both teams are 5-1.
On Saturday Hotchkiss faces 9-3, 4-2 North Park.
