According to the minutes of their Jan. 10 meeting, the Friends of the Cedaredge Public Library met to hear a program, conduct business, and install new officers. Stepping down from their friends' roles are Pat Means, outgoing president and Jean Blanning, outgoing vice president. Berta Marean was also recognized as a secretary who has served in the past. Newly installed officers are Lorie Molitor as president and Sue Meyer as vice president. Continuing in their roles will be Sandy Maddox as secretary and Lynnette Reed as treasurer.
The program "Staying Alive at 65" was presented by Darold Sloan who informed the group and community members attending about defensive driving.
The Delta County Libraries will sponsor a talk by James Wetzel author of "Murder and Mystery on Grand Mesa." Wetzel's presentation is part of the Grand Mesa Arts & Events Center's (GMAEC) series entitled "Voices of the Western Slope." Wetzel will speak at the GMAEC at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, with a $10 donation suggested at the door.
The friends will donate $5,000 to the Cedaredge Library, $1,500 to support the February celebration of "Love Your Library," and $3,500 to the Delta County Library Trust & Endowment. The friends are considering investing funds with the Colorado Community Foundation and will discuss that option at a future meeting.
