Whether you prefer to ride on the road or a single track, it's time to gear up for Gears & Beers. The grassroots community event was first held seven years ago. This year's primary sponsor is The Cirque Cyclery in Paonia. The family-friendly event offers hourly rides for all levels, from children and beginners to advanced single track trail riders. Rides leave The Cirque hourly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will take participants on local roads or on the trails of Jumbo Mountain. Bring your own bike.
The Cirque will offer food specials and information on Jumbo Mountain. This year's focus is on efforts to have the area designated as a Special Recreation Management Area by the Bureau of Land Management. At 4 p.m. The Cirque will host a regional beer tasting featuring a variety of craft beers from Telluride, the Roaring Fork Valley, and Paonia. A portion of proceeds will benefit the North Fork Trail Advocacy Group (NFTAG). Stop by the Cirque, 232 Grand Avenue for details.
