Every fall for more than 30 years, classic car enthusiasts from around the world have taken to the highways and byways of Colorado to enjoy the beautiful fall colors for the Colorado Grand. The charity event pairs drivers with classic cars for a multi-day, 1,000 mile route that includes Delta County.
This year as around 85 beautiful classic cars will wind their way over Grand Mesa and through the North Fork Valley on Friday, Sept. 14. The drivers will briefly stop for coffee in Cedaredge before arriving in Hotchkiss for lunch around 11:30 a.m. at the Delta County Fairgrounds.
Lunch will be served by Hotchkiss chamber volunteers: Zack's BBQ, High Wire Ranch, Big B's, Rogers Mesa Fruit and Pat's Bar and Grill. Cost of lunch to the public will be $10. Everyone is encouraged to attend to see the nearly 100 pre-1960 vintage sports cars of distinction, and listen to a great local band.
To be a volunteer, call Nathan at 970-589-2903.
From Hotchkiss, the rally proceeds along Highway 133 to Paonia, where a dessert stop is scheduled around 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the Paradise Theatre in downtown Paonia. The drivers then head over McClure Pass for their return to Vail.
