Colorado West Land Trust (a partnership between Mesa County Land Conservancy and Valley Land Conservancy - dba Black Canyon Regional Land Trust) announces that both member organizations are applying for renewal of accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. A public comment period is now open.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant's policies and programs. Land Trust accreditation conveys to you that a land trust has undergone this review process and meets the national quality standards for land conservation, therein providing assurance that it is working diligently to conserve land in the most sustainable manner possible.
The commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Colorado West Land Trust or Black Canyon Regional Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust.
